Some of you may already know that I have a long history at Camp Twin Creeks. I started as a camper back in 2010 and experienced the full camper journey. My first cabin was Fairmont, and I returned every summer until I became one of the Hill girls that I admired so much. I was a Counselor in Training (CIT), then a Junior Counselor (JC), and worked my way up to Group Leader and Head Counselor on staff! My 16 years at TC have given me so many of my favorite memories and some of my closest friends to this day, and I thought I’d share with you the 5 things I love most about Camp Twin Creeks:

1. The People – When I speak to families about what makes Camp Twin Creeks so special, I always share that it’s the community that makes camp so magical. Campers and staff from different parts of the country and around the world all meeting to have fun is such a special thing! Coupled with the warm welcome from staff, the relationships formed at camp are strong enough to last a lifetime.
2. The Campus – Camp’s physical setting is my favorite place in the world. The second I cross the one-lane bridge onto camp, I immediately feel at home. From the creeks to the forest to stargazing hill, we are surrounded by nature at its finest, and I look forward to returning each summer!
3. Disconnecting to Reconnect – Something I looked forward to, even as a camper, was leaving my screens at home. It’s such a rare thing to be fully disconnected from the online world, and I still try to take advantage of this even as an adult on camp. Being away from phones and other technology allows for deeper connections with campers and staff, and it’s such an amazing reminder that we can all still imagine and play!
4. The Creeks – I know I already mentioned this as a part of the campus, but my favorite place on all of camp are the creeks. Specifically, I love the swimming hole in Knapps Creek! Our creek walks honor the value that the creeks bring to camp, and our creek snorkeling program for rising 7th graders invites campers to take a close look at what passes through the waters.
5. The FUN! This is what camp is all about! From morning core activities to Masterclass, and from Special Events to Olympics, even our Rainy Days have things to look forward to! I can’t think of anywhere else that might offer as much fun as Camp Twin Creeks. Some of my favorite memories are of the unplanned fun, like spontaneous dance parties in the rain, or cookie raids in the kitchen before bedtime. Being a part of a team that creates and delivers this fun to campers is so special and rewarding for me, especially remembering how magical it is to be on the other side.
It was really hard to pick only 5 things, and I know there are even more things to look forward to next summer!
