New Year, New Reflections

The New Year is a natural moment for reflection and resolution, a time when we promise ourselves growth, courage, and change. We set goals to try new things, break old habits, and become stronger versions of ourselves. In many ways, that’s exactly what happens every day at Camp Twin Creeks.

At camp, trying something new isn’t just encouraged, it’s part of the experience. Whether it’s stepping onto the stage for the first time, climbing higher than you thought you could, or starting a conversation with someone who was a stranger yesterday, camp places us gently but intentionally outside our comfort zones. And that’s where real growth happens.

New Year’s resolutions often sound big and intimidating, but camp teaches us an important truth: growth doesn’t come from staying comfortable. At Twin Creeks, we learn how to be comfortable in the uncomfortable. We learn to take a deep breath, try anyway, and discover that we’re capable of more than we imagined.

Just like a New Year’s resolution, camp challenges don’t always feel easy at first. But with encouragement, support, and a safe environment, discomfort turns into confidence. Fear turns into pride. And “I can’t” turns into “I just did.”

As we think about the New Year, Camp Twin Creeks reminds us that the best resolutions aren’t just promises we make, they are the actions we take. Trying new things, embracing discomfort, and trusting ourselves along the way. That mindset doesn’t end when camp does; it’s something we carry into the year ahead, ready for whatever challenges come next.
