Why did you choose to work as a camp counselor this summer?

What are the best parts of the job? Is it easy?
"Leaving camp knowing you left an impact on a child's life, usually way more than just one." "The main reward is seeing a child's face when they perfect something that you taught them." How would you describe the role of a counselor
at a summer camp? "You are almost their personal trainer. You want to encourage them to do their best at everything they do, try everything and set realistic goals." "A surrogate parent, a guardian, a friend and advisor; counselors must be prepared to put on a variety of hats to efficiently carry out their duties." "I listened and helped my girls cope with life at camp and I also had a giggle with them. I considered myself to be an older sister to thecampers." "As a counselor you become the pseudo-family of the campers. Most of the time you are like an older sibling; someone they look up to but can still pal around with. Occasionally you have to be the parent too." "Camp counselors have to be role models. The campers see everything that their counselors do and act very similar to the way that their role models act." "It requires you to put the campers ahead of many of your needs." "I would find myself being a therapist, friend, manager, cabin specialist, ropes facilitator and even a kid!"
What have you learnt from working at Twin Creeks as a counselor?
"I have learnt to listen to the needs of kids, understand their mode of thinking and to have a lot of patience." "I learnt what age of children I work with best." "Some well learned lessons I took from the camp experience were the necessity of both patience and teamwork." "I learnt that as a counselor, you have to bear in mind that there is no such thing as a perfect role model - it is how you handle any mistakes you do make. That is the sign of a true role model." "I have become more patient, more tolerant and more observant, just to name a few things I gained from my experience." How would you describe Twin Creeks to a friend?
"In one word, FUN! That is all I need to say. It is like one of those once in a lifetime experiences that you never forget and after the first year...you will be back." "It is the ride of your life!" "Camp gave me the confidence with teaching that I was looking for, helping me to understand the need for structure in lesson plans and ways to catch and hold attention at the start of a class."
